ABOUT THE FOUNDER

Maria Mandroules completed her Bachelor of Nursing at Cumberland College of Health Sciences, Lidcombe - part of the University of Sydney. She went on to complete two Masters degrees in Nursing: a Master of Nursing (Critical Care) from the University of Sydney, followed by a Master of Nursing (Nurse Practitioner) from the University of Newcastle in 2007 - the first Nurse Practitioner university program offered in Australia, helping pave the way for the now over 2,200 endorsed NPs practising across the country.
Maria is a member of the Australian College of Nursing and the Australian College of Nurse Practitioners, and has lectured for the Australian College of Emergency Nursing and the University of Sydney. She also worked as a clinical educator for the University of Western Sydney, Nepean.
Her clinical career spanned some of the most demanding environments in nursing. As an Emergency Nurse Practitioner, she managed complex and acute presentations - from chest pain and respiratory conditions to burns, wounds and trauma. She has also worked across neonatal intensive care, and held education and leadership roles throughout her career - a breadth of experience that informs both her scientific approach to skincare and her ability to communicate complex health concepts clearly.
More recently, she worked in primary health care on the Gold Coast, managing a broad range of presentations from routine check-ups and women's health to musculoskeletal injuries and skin-related concerns.
In 2021 she returned to further study at Central Queensland University before turning her focus to her greatest passion project yet - Kioni Skin.
Maria has dedicated her professional life to helping others. Kioni Skin is the natural next chapter.
